Illuvium

Illuvium is an open-world fantasy battle game built on the Ethereum blockchain. It combines elements of an exploration game with player versus player (PVP) battles. The game world is inhabited by creatures known as Illuvials, which players can capture and add to their collection. These Illuvials can then be used in battles against other players. Illuvium has been in development since 2020 by a global team of over 40 individuals. The ILV token, the main token of the Illuvium ecosystem, is utilized to compensate players for their in-game achievements and for participating in the game's governance via the Illuvium decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

Illuvium operates more like a full-fledged video game than a typical blockchain-based game. It is accessed through a downloadable desktop app and has a range of supporting decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including a yield farm and decentralized exchange. Players roam the Illuvium landscape, battling Illuvials and other players, participating in quests and daily challenges, and engaging in its communal storyline. Illuvials have a range of characteristics that make them variable in their rarity, utility, and desirability. Each Illuvial is represented by a unique non-fungible token (NFT) and can be traded within the Illuvium ecosystem and the gas-free IlluviDEX.

Illuvium seeks to provide a source of entertainment to both casual gamers and DeFi enthusiasts through a range of collecting and trading features. The ILV token has several applications within the Illuvium ecosystem. It is utilized to compensate players for their in-game achievements, entitles players to their share of the Illuvium Vault, and is used for participating in the governance of the game via the Illuvium DAO. The game also features a built-in decentralized exchange (DEX) platform, the IlluviDEX, which facilitates the exchange of Illuvium assets, including Illuvial NFTs.
