What Is Epic Cash (EPIC)?
Epic Cash (EPIC) is a decentralized privacy-enhanced cryptocurrency developed by the volunteer community. EPIC stands for Epic Private Internet Cash that utilizes blockchain technology to seek to boost quick transactions with low fees. At the same time, it also seeks to protect users’ privacy from nosy individuals, invasive corporations, and government overreach. Epic Cash aims to provide real currency for people who value autonomy and sound principles.
The whitepaper mentions that the Epic Cash protocol aims to become the world’s highly effective privacy-protecting form of digital currency. To reach this goal, the platform aims to satisfy the following three core functions of traditional currency:
Store of value - can be saved, retrieved, and exchanged later and of predictable value when retrieved.
Medium of Exchange - can accept anything as representing a standard of value and exchangeable for goods and services.
Unit of account - the unit by which the value of a product is compared and accounted for.
As per the whitepaper, Epic Cash is based on the original Bitcoin protocol; however, the Epic Cash network has utilized the faults of its predecessors and evolved as a cryptocurrency. Epic Cash aims to have key qualities such as fungibility, scalability, privacy, and speed to become an ideal currency. The network features a solid platform Epicenter ecosystem that decentralized finance requires. This ecosystem seeks to allow anyone to create secure, scalable, and globally accessible financial services within minutes from anywhere in the globe.
In addition, EPIC is the native utility token of the Epic Cash protocol. EPIC is the ERC20 standard token based on the proof-of-work (PoW) consensus algorithm. The primary utility of the EPIC token is to power the Epicenter ecosystem.
History of Epic Cash (EPIC)
Max Freeman has been the founder of the Epic Cash protocol since 2018. Max is a computer science graduate from Stanford University. He is also the founder of the Epicenter ecosystem.
Epic Cash was launched without an ICO. EPIC has a maximum total supply of 21 million tokens.
