OptionRoom (ROOM) is an oracle as a service (OaaS) and a forecast protocol built on Polkadot, where governance solves the oracle requests. The protocol allows users to create and participate in events where governance consensus pegs the derivates of the events with real-world outcomes. Pegging means to control the currency of an asset with the real-world currency of a country. When a user opts for an oracle request, they pay a fee. According to its whitepaper, users are rewarded for solving queries; on the other hand, if a user passes a dishonest solution, the protocol punishes the user by token slashing and score reset.
The governance uses the OaaS protocol to solve oracle requests. The protocol also has multiple use cases where OptionRoom offers limitless prediction markets, decentralized polls, dispute resolution, decentralized surveys, and curated lists. The team of OptionRoom doesn’t receive any percentage of the protocol fee; instead, the protocol fee gets utilized in the buyback mechanism for self-sustainability. If OptionRoom generates excessive protocol fees, the fees get diverted to a reward buffer pool to be used as protocol rewards reducing inflation.
The protocol uses a dual token model, i.e., ROOM and COURT. ROOM is the native utility token of the OptionRoom protocol. The users can earn ROOM tokens as rewards from the protocol. The protocol incentivizes the request solvers in the form of ROOM tokens.
COURT is another token of the protocol that acts as a governance token. ROOM holders can earn COURT only by staking ROOM tokens or providing liquidity. The users need to lock COURT tokens for a minimum period of twenty-four hours to earn the ability to vote on oracle requests, market validity, market settlement, and governance proposals.
