What Is Sakura (SKU)?
Sakura (SKU) is a Kusama parachain and the canary network of Clover. Clover is an operating system parachain based on the Polkadot network. Parachains are custom, project-specific blockchains integrated within the blockchain networks.
Clover works on creating and providing a one-stop comprehensive and easy-to-use blockchain infrastructure. The infrastructure reduces the threshold and cost for developers while providing returns. Clover has three different networks, namely parachain, mainnet, and testnet.
The Sakura SKU token is a cross-chain compatible token. The two-way peg bridge technology on the platform allows the EVM-based Sakura address and Kusama-based Clover address to be bound together. This allows the utilization of both chains together.
Moreover, Sakura aims to use the Clover “feeconomics” design, which will allow users to enjoy gasless transactions. Gasless transaction means that a user in their wallet does not require SKU token to transact on the Sakura network, and any other token can be used. In contrast, gas fees are payments that users make to compensate for the computing energy required to validate and process transactions on a blockchain.
Additionally, Sakura is working on a dynamic fee schedule, proposed through on-chain governance, wherein the gas fee will be proportional to the usage amount of a wallet on the Sakura network.
The SKU token has the following use cases:
Opt-in Fees: The gas fees can be either paid in SKU or with the network token1 (CLV is the native token of the Clover network).
Governance: Lock SKU to elect council members and guide the development through on-chain governance.
Validation: Stake SKU to validate the network with the validator infrastructure.
Treasury: Projects can be funded from the treasury.
Nomination: Stake SKU by using a single-click deployment to nominate a node validator.
Deployment: To deploy smart contracts and DApps on Sakura.
