What Is Standard Protocol (STND)?
Standard Protocol (STND) is a collateralized rebaseable stablecoin protocol for financial instruments like evidence of ownership, duration, and asset flow. Collateralized stablecoin means when an asset gets traded for one another gets backed by collateral held in a reserve of the protocol. Such coins maintain the collateral ratio even in adverse situations in the market. Here, rebaseable means a change in the supply of the token due to fluctuation in the price of the token. Standard Protocol seeks to solve the problems faced by stablecoins like sustainability, centralized systems, and trackability. As a solution, the protocol incorporated rebase-ability, and the blockchain technology makes the protocol decentralized and incorporates market efficient liquidity. The protocol aims to bridge the gap between traditional trading and cryptocurrency markets with the help of digital products.
Some other features of the Standard Protocol include the stable base price through rebasing and asset speculation. Though STND protocol runs on Polkadot, it supports multiple cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin. Moreover, the decentralized ecosystem also incentivizes the users.
Standard (STND)isthe network and governance token of the Standard Protocol. The users can engage in staking STND and earn rewards. STND holders receive stability fees collected from users who close their vault. The token holders can make transactions within the network using STND. STND holders can also partake in the governance of the protocol.
Apart from STND, the protocol has two other tokens, Meter (MTR) and Liter (LTR). MTR is a stablecoin generated by the protocol's vault. The users can use MTR to exchange or purchase other tokens. MTR holders can also use MTR to farm by providing liquidity. LTR is the liquidity provider (LP) token that represents a part of the automated market maker (AMM). Users can use LTR in liquidity mining.
History of Standard Protocol (STND)
The Standard Protocol came into existence in Q1, 2021. The protocol's team includes Hyungsuk Kang, Head of Technology; Dixon Wong, Product owner; and Beli Hong, the administrator. The total supply of the Standard Protocol is 94,600,000 STND.
