GALA is an Ethereum token that powers Gala Games, a platform for blockchain gaming. GALA is used as the medium of exchange between Gala Games participants. For example, it can be used to pay for in-game items.
The GALA token is the Gala Games ecosystem's digital utility token. The token is cryptographically secured and native to the Gala Games ecosystem. GALA can be transferred peer-to-peer between users, and they have complete control over how to use it. Thus, the GALA token fuels the Gala Games ecosystem.
The participants in the Gala Games ecosystem use GALA as a non-refundable utility token and a medium of exchange. Introducing GALA aims to provide a suitable and secure mode of payment and settlement between participants who interact within the Gala Games ecosystem, for instance, to pay for digital goods or in-game items. Such items on the Ethereum blockchain can be accessed with a variety of open-source and cryptographically secure wallets and storage mechanisms. The GALA website wallet and the GALA app are open-source, keyphrase-secured crypto wallets. Once you have created the wallet, nobody else other than the account owner has access to the funds and items stored within that wallet.
GALA believes the complexity of the blockchain should be invisible in its games. So, it uses simple game mechanics that all players can enjoy, whether they consider themselves to be blockchain pros or not. Moreover, players get true ownership of what they win in the games. If a player earns or wins a magical sword on the Gala Game platform, the sword belongs to the player. The items and any inherited status are verifiable assets on the blockchain that one can trade with another person or play with in-game. Everything in the Gala Games ecosystem depends on the player-owned node ecosystem. The Gala Network is backed by users who operate Gala nodes from their home computers.
The decentralized Gala Games ecosystem desires to make the doors wide open for users and give players back the control they deserve. Through decentralization, players, in addition to owning their in-games items, have a say in how the Gala Games road map develops. Players and node owners will be enlisted, through distributed voting mechanisms, to help decide on the games to be added or funded by the decentralized Gala Games ecosystem.
Founder’s nodes are Gala Games ecosystem's backbone. Everyone operating a founder’s node is contributing to the growth of the decentralized gaming network. By running a founder’s node, players can work to get real ownership of their assets and content. A consensus vote is a voting opportunity presented to all founder’s node operators in the node network. Often these votes are about which games come to the Gala Games platform.
Eric Schiermeyer is the CEO of Gala Games. He also cofounded Zynga, a popular social and mobile games company. Eric has rich experience working on cutting-edge technology in the gaming space. He launched Gala Games in July 2019 to create a blockchain-based game network and give players more ownership of their games.
Founder’s nodes get GALA rewards by supporting the ecosystem that enables games to run. The first game built for the Gala Games ecosystem, Town Star, has a reward structure where the top players are rewarded in GALA tokens.
Daily, GALA is distributed to founder’s nodes that have served for at least the required time each cycle. So, it helps in the functioning of Gala Games as a truly decentralized gaming network. A halving mechanism is added to the distribution, which is done through voting. Halving is simply reducing the reward coins with time or number of blocks.
