As per the website, City Chain is a proof-of-stake blockchain, making it even more approachable to the general public by eliminating the requirement for mining hardware reserves. The users can use their money for staking rather than mining. For each block pledged, the staker receives two City Coins. City Chain implements Version 3 of PoS.
