What is LeverFi?
LeverFi, previously known as RAMP DEFI, is a decentralized leverage platform that aims to address challenges in the DeFi market such as sustainable TVL and utility. The platform seeks to provide value by enabling users to transact and yield farm simultaneously. Lenders allocate resources into lending pools, receiving compensation from traders who borrow to leverage transactions up to 10X. Unused liquidity from lenders is allocated into other DeFi protocols to generate additional yield. LeverFi aims to serve as a bridge for Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains.
How does LeverFi work?
LeverFi operates by integrating transactions and farming into a single platform. Users can allocate collateral as single assets, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Curve liquidity provider tokens (LP), and Uniswap LP, and then unify their collateral to transact with larger positions. The platform supports users who engage in pair transactions or hedging with leverage, while also allowing users to utilize the platform in conjunction with DEX/CEX derivatives. LeverFi imposes a 1% fee for every transaction and routes transactions to pre-existing DeFi protocols and decentralized platforms.
What are the potential use cases for LeverFi?
LeverFi's primary use case is to provide a unique solution for traders by integrating transactions and farming into one platform. This allows users to allocate collateral, unify it, and transact with larger positions. The platform also supports users who engage in pair transactions or hedging with leverage. Furthermore, LeverFi's governance token, LEVER, allows users to participate in the governance of the protocol if they hold LEVER for a period of 6 months to 48 months. Each token represents one vote and allows users to oversee issues regarding the addition or removal of collateral, lending pools, tradable assets, and more.
What is the history of LeverFi?
The Singapore-based RAMP DEFI project, which later became LeverFi, was founded in 2019 by Lawrence Lim and Loh Zheng Rong. They rebranded the platform and launched LeverFi three years later. Lawrence Lim began his career in the traditional finance world in 2012, working in private banking and corporate mergers and acquisitions before transitioning into crypto with IOST, a blockchain network. Loh Zheng Rong, the co-founder and marketing lead of the project, is a graduate of the Singapore Management University with a B.B.A in Finance Wealth Management. He co-founded NOX, a blockchain infrastructure company, in 2018 and previously served as the managing partner at Merkle Ventures.
