Introducing App2App: fund wallets directly from the Coinbase app

TL;DR: Coinbase Onramp has launched App2App, a faster way to top-up a crypto balance using a Coinbase account. App2App is generally available and live today with fomo.

Funding a crypto wallet usually means breaking the user out of the app: a web page opens, a new account needs to be created, and card details are entered from scratch. Onchain apps see their users drop off and hope they find their way back. 

App2App enables a one-click onramp with no new sign-ups or new tabs. A user taps to onramp with Coinbase and jumps straight into the Coinbase app, confirms the purchase with one click using payment methods already saved to their account, and lands back in the app with funds delivered. No new onboarding or reentering payment details.

4. Coinbase delivers the crypto to the wallet and returns the user to the app

A better experience for users

Customers buy with the bank accounts, debit cards, or Coinbase balance already on their account, with nothing new to set up. Users confirm every purchase themselves, protected by the same security and biometric sign-in they already trust in the Coinbase app. Your app sets the asset, network, amount, and destination.

A fast integration for app teams

App2App is built to be simple to adopt: integrate with a small set of CDP API calls or drop in the React Native SDK, with no API secrets to store in your app. Most teams are up and running in a few days. And if a user doesn't have the Coinbase app or is on an unsupported device, the Coinbase Onramp widget steps in automatically as a fallback, so no one hits a dead end.

Launching with fomo

fomo is a global financial social graph, where people build an identity and a following around their financial views, sharing investment theses, building a personal brand, and earning from that influence. With App2App, fomo users can fund their wallets straight from their Coinbase account and get back to fomo without ever leaving the flow.
