Welcome Rob Witoff to the Coinbase Exec Team

At Coinbase, we’re a team of builders. We hire and attract some of the brightest minds in crypto, many of whom are entrepreneurs, and have a rich history of our employees going on to start their own companies. Sometimes it comes full circle. 

I’m excited to share that Coinbase alumni Rob Witoff is re-joining us as our new Head of Platform and member of the Executive Team. Rob will lead Coinbase’s platform, which powers the most trusted & easiest to use products in crypto.

Rob is a true crypto OG and distinguished engineer, helping build some of the first crypto applications over a decade ago. He also deeply understands Coinbase’s culture and mission and was actually in the room with Brian and Fred working on our first mission statement and platform goals all those years ago. 

In fact, Rob’s contributions are still part of Coinbase today. From 2014 to 2017, he led security and infrastructure, became our Chief Architect, and then went on to create an industry leading cold storage company, which we acquired. Even after leaving, he stayed connected to Coinbase, naming his company Unit 410 after our first office address at 1 Bluxome St, Unit 410 – where the magic started. 

Rob embodies what it is to be a builder. He cares deeply about crypto, developer productivity and empowerment, and creating a seamless user experience. Rob’s return to Coinbase is a testament to what makes Coinbase special and I am so excited to welcome him back and to the executive team!
