EGR holders utilize it as a governance token to vote on the Egoras protocol's risk management and business logic. Risk management is critical to the system's performance and survival, and it is implemented by voting on specific risk parameters for each loan and lending partner. Risk parameters must be carefully calibrated to match the risk profile of the loans and the lending partner in the system.

The voting method for the system's governance is done by continual approval voting. This means that with EGR, each EGR holder can vote for an unlimited number of ideas, propose a new proposal, or withdraw votes at any moment. The suggestion with the most votes from all EGR holders is designated as the "top proposal" and can be used to adjust the system's risk settings.
