Colchis Capital to Run Provenance Validators with Coinbase Cloud

January 26, 2022

Colchis Capital aims to use the Provenance blockchain, built to support the financial services industry, to bridge the crypto ecosystem with real estate investments

Colchis Capital, a specialist alternative investment firm focusing on real estate investments, will be utilizing Coinbase Cloud to run nodes on the Provenance blockchain. Coinbase Cloud will provide the secure, reliable node infrastructure for Colchis Capital to unlock new use cases of blockchain technology for real estate investments.

Colchis Capital aims to leverage blockchain technology to enhance the operations of its investment strategies, and provide investors with greater efficiency and transparency to the management of real‐estate related assets. The firm is focused on advancing lower‐cost financing, and streamlining reporting for both debt and equity real estate investments.

As an early adopter of the Provenance blockchain, Colchis Capital is developing a technology stack to provide interoperability with Provenance. It is exploring the development of a suite of software services that will provide investors with near real‐time reporting on cash flows and yield generated by assets, without the typical overhead associated with generating these data streams. Colchis is also exploring blockchain technology for asset tokenization and more intricate investment models driven by blockchain.

Founded in 2005, Colchis Capital has spent the past 15 years leveraging big data, analytics, technology and operational know-how to strategically invest in real estate debt and equity. Since 2011, it has invested approximately $6 billion in more than 500,000 loans. As it explores new use cases of blockchain for real estate investments, it will rely on Bison Trails’ secure infrastructure to run nodes, process transactions, and further build its technology stack.

"We believe Provenance offers an ideal environment to unlock new use cases of blockchain technology for greater efficiency and transparency in financial services," said Rob Damus, Chief Technology Officer at Colchis Capital. "We’re thrilled to work with Bison Trails, leveraging their reliable infrastructure and expertise with Provenance."

"We are excited to work with firms like Colchis Capital as they bridge the gap between blockchain and industries that historically rely on traditional finance," said Joe Lallouz of Coinbase Cloud. "Coinbase Cloud is uniquely positioned to empower industry pioneers like Colchis Capital through our secure infrastructure support, and by doing so, we will be able to further our mission of enabling mainstream adoption."

Coinbase Cloud currently enables secure validator infrastructure on the Provenance blockchain, a multi‐billion‐dollar platform, allowing traditional financial institutions to offer blockchain services. By providing the infrastructure for Colchis Capital to run validators on Provenance, Coinbase Cloud plays a pivotal role in opening up different ways for investments to take place on‐chain.
