LBRY Credits (LBC) is a digital platform that aims to change the way digital content is distributed and accessed. It operates on a decentralized model, striving to provide an equitable, without cost, and open platform for all parties involved. LBRY Credits uses a distributed network built on a protocol that allows publishers to charge a fee to content consumers without the need for a middleman or censorship. The platform was launched in 2018 and has since cultivated an active community. The native token of the platform is LBC, which plays a crucial role in the LBRY network's operations.

LBRY Credits operates as a distributed network built on a protocol that allows publishers to charge a fee to content consumers without censorship or the need for a middleman. The platform uses a decentralized and distributed network to create a content sharing crypto platform that aims to provide a level playing field for all participants. The revenue generated from content consumers’ activity is fully credited to publishers in their preferred payment method — whether in LBC or through third-party processors. Independent host providers can offer their computers’ processing power to receive compensation on the platform.

LBRY Credits seeks to address major issues such as censorship, abuses of user privacy, and unfair revenue sharing formulas that affect corporations offering similar services. It provides a platform for content creators to publish their work without the need for a middleman, and for consumers to access this content without cost or for a fee. The platform also provides a mechanism for independent host providers to receive compensation by offering their computers' processing power. This mechanism is intended to make LBRY Credits appealing to content creators.

LBRY Credits was created by Jeremy Kaufman as a content hosting platform without any central authority. Kaufman, who also founded Topscore, a registry system for managing events and activities, launched the project in 2018. The platform was designed to be equitable, without cost, and open to all parties involved in the distribution and access of digital content. Alex Grintsvayg, another co-founder, is responsible for technological development and overseeing the firm's infrastructure growth. The platform has since grown to serve an active community, with a total supply of one billion LBC tokens set to be in circulation for the first 20 years of the project.
