Injective (INJ) is a layer-one blockchain designed to support the development of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including decentralized spot and derivatives exchanges, prediction markets, and lending protocols. It offers foundational financial infrastructure like a fully decentralized on-chain order book, aiming to support various financial markets such as spot, perpetual, futures, and options—all executed fully on-chain. Injective is compatible with Ethereum, IBC-enabled blockchains, and non-EVM chains like Solana. Built using the Cosmos SDK, it employs a Tendermint-based Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, which strives to deliver instant transaction finality and high performance.

Injective utilizes a Tendermint-based Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, enabling fast transaction finality and maintaining high network performance. It incorporates a decentralized cross-chain bridging infrastructure that supports compatibility with Ethereum, IBC-enabled chains, and non-EVM blockchains like Solana. Injective's core exchange module features an advanced on-chain order book and matching engine for spot, perpetual, futures, and options markets. It aims to reduce Miner-Extractable Value (MEV) through frequent batch auctions and strives to offer zero gas fees for users. Smart contracts are powered by CosmWasm, facilitating seamless multi-chain transactions and enabling complex DeFi applications.

Injective seeks to serve as a foundation for diverse DeFi applications, offering essential infrastructure like an on-chain order book for building decentralized exchanges, prediction markets, and lending protocols. The INJ token is central to the platform, used for protocol governance, securing the network through staking, incentivizing developers, and capturing value from decentralized applications. Injective aims to facilitate a wide range of trading and yield-generating activities, supporting interoperability across multiple layer-one blockchains, including Cosmos and Ethereum, thereby broadening the scope of DeFi opportunities.

Injective was developed by Injective Labs, a research and development firm co-founded by Eric Chen, who brings expertise in blockchain protocols and traditional finance. Albert Chon, the CTO, is a Stanford graduate and former software engineer at Amazon, known for pioneering an Ethereum standard adopted by major projects. The Injective ecosystem aims to encompass over 100 projects and has grown to include more than 150,000 community members worldwide. The project has received backing from various investors, supporting its mission to expand decentralized finance infrastructure.
