About Hathor

Hathor (HTR) is an easy-to-use and scalable blockchain for digital assets and features a decentralized architecture. According to the whitepaper, Hathor is a transactional consensus network based on a different structure that combines principles from a directed acyclic graph (DAG) and blockchain technology. The platform aims to solve the problems of decentralized maintenance and scalability problems in decentralized cryptocurrencies in distributed ledgers via a chain of mined blocks inside the DAG of transactions.

The platform aims to set up an ideal setting for various use cases where scalability, efficiency, long-term security, and censorship resistance via network distribution is required or may significantly reduce present expenses and bureaucracy.

The blockchain network provides security when transactions per second are small, and the DAG prevails when the number increases. The network creates a highly scalable distributed ledger where trades may be handled for diverse purposes with no charges. Simultaneously, mining incentives in the form of newly created tokens provide a fair allocation of economic and computational resources by decentralization and 99.99 percent uptime without any need for central coordination.

HTR is the official token of the Hathor network that provides utility by access to the decentralized payments, token issuance, and contracting capabilities of the platform’s technology. Users can receive HTR tokens as rewards for mining the blocks that help keep the network secure. Users also receive HTR tokens as community rewards for promoting the local events and strategic partnership deals through the Bounty Program. The platform even enables users to create customized digital tokens on Hathor Network with just one click. The token works independently of the price of 1 HTR. The user can utilize the token for financial participation in a company, ownership of digital goods such as website domains, and voting.

The team behind Hathor includes Yan Martins, Co-founder & CEO; Marcelo Salhab Brogliato, Co-founder & CTO; Layla Mendes, Co-founder & CFO; Pedro Ferreira, Co-founder & Senior Engineer; and Jan Segre, Co-founder & Senior Engineer. The first testnet of Hathor was launched in May 2019, and the mainnet was launched on January 3rd, 2020.
