What Is Star Atlas (POLIS)?
Star Atlas is a blockchain-based strategy game designed to offer digital space exploration and territorial conquest. According to its whitepaper, the online game is set in the year 2620, where three major factions – Humankind, Alien Races, and Androids – are in a constant struggle for the acquisition of resources, territory, and political domination. Star Atlas claims that the players of the game can influence the outcomes of the intergalactic wars and receive real crypto rewards for their contributions.
Star Atlas seeks to integrate with the Metaverse and provide a combination of traditional and blockchain gaming experiences. The gaming platform intends to build a digital economy to replicate real-world asset ownership experience. Moreover, Star Atlas uses a hybrid of mining and staking to mimic the core functionalities of blockchain technology within the game. The game is broadly divided into four parts – Grand Strategy, Exploration, Role-Playing, and Space Flight Simulation.
The gaming platform also aims to launch a mini-browser version of Star Atlas, which would allow players to play and acquire in-game assets. Additionally, Star Atlas claims to allow users to bid on containers of salvaged digital assets within the game. All the transactions within the platform are executed through ATLAS, the native cryptocurrency of Star Atlas. The platform seeks to power the trade of NFT within the ecosystem through the ATLAS token.
POLIS is the governance token of Star Atlas, which helps the platform decide its in-game and external economic policies. Star Atlas aims to utilize POLIS tokens within the Metaverse to strategically manage space and territory. Similarly, POLIS holders can participate in network governance and the development of the platform.
History of Star Atlas (POLIS)
Star Atlas was launched on December 16, 2021. The platform was co-founded by Michael Wagner and Pablo Quiroga. Michael is the CEO of Star Atlas and a co-founder of Automata Pte Ltd, Multichain Ventures, and Digital Asset Holdings LLC. Pablo is the CRO of Star Atlas and the founder of Fuelixir Labs. Apart from the co-founders, the core team includes CPO Danny Floyd and CTO Jacob Floyd. POLIS has a total supply of 360,000,000 tokens.
