What Is RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIF)?
RSK Infrastructure Framework is an open standard and decentralized infrastructure protocol that aims to enable faster, more efficient, and scalable distribution of applications (DApps) in a unified environment.
According to the whitepaper, the framework also has its OS to further support users. The RIF OS Framework is an all-in-one, easy-to-use framework for blockchain services and infrastructure that allows developers and organizations to access various services across multiple crypto-economies. In addition to providing broad interoperability, RIF OS Protocols enable faster time-to-deployment and aim to close the gap between blockchain and mass-market adoption. With RIF OS Protocols, the RSK Smart Contract Network creates the Internet of Value as envisioned.
Besides the OS, the framework has developed many other functioning products, including RNS, RIF, and RSK, to provide users with better facilities. The RNS is a decentralized service that lets users create readable domains and aliases. In addition to identifying personal resources, it can also identify payment and communication addresses. RIF Lumino Network adds a third layer to the Bitcoin blockchain, enabling state channels for each token built on RSK, increasing transaction speeds, and lowering costs by orders of magnitude. Further, to support this operational model, the framework introduced its cryptocurrency, the RIF token.
RIF is the native token of the RSK Infrastructure Framework ecosystem based on the ERC-677 protocol. The ERC-677 ensures the backend compatibility of the token. With the RIF Token, token holders can consume services that are compatible with RIF’s architecture and can also be used across the RIF’s marketplace.
The RIF Marketplace offers a simplified interface and user experience for various decentralized services. Decentralized applications can seamlessly connect to the outside world using tools and technologies developed by RIF Gateways. This RIF Marketplace is the main component that links all other RIF’s services with their customers and users. Ultimately, the RIF Marketplace aims to enable the fast and efficient creation of decentralized sharing economies (DSEs) on top of RSK and RIF by providing the tools needed to enable all parties to work together. Offerings such as Storage, Payments, Communications, and Data Services, presented through a standard and unified interface, can be listed by providers and made available to users.
History of RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIF)
According to the whitepaper, RSK Labs announced the launch of the RSK side-chain protocol, a secure smart contract platform powered by Bitcoin, in December 2016. In May 2017, the Test-net version was released to the public, and in January 2018, the Beta Main-net version was released. In the RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIS) protocol, there is a total supply of 1,000,000,000 RIF tokens.
