What Is Threshold (T)?
Threshold Network (T) is the on-chain merger between two existing networks, i.e., NU and KEEP. The platform is the only decentralized Bitcoin bridging protocol and is audited by well-respected companies in the field. The Threshold Network protects privacy on public blockchains.
The ThresholdDAO has two significant bodies: Token Holder DAO, and the Elected Council. Each of these holds the other accountable, similar to the system of checks and balances found in most constitutional governments. They also have different responsibilities that are embedded in the governance structure. Governance discussion takes place in Threshold’s Discord server, and this post in its Forum describes the process for proposals to move through comment phase to on-chain vote.
The Threshold Network utilizes a crypto system appropriately called threshold cryptography to ensure users have complete control over their digital assets. Threshold cryptography enables the distribution of trust across a large network of staking nodes, enabling a variety of applications including a trust-minimized Bitcoin bridge (tBTC)
History of Threshold (T):
Threshold Network (T) is the on-chain merger between two existing networks, i.e., NuCypher (NU) and Keep Network (KEEP). The initial supply of T was split equally (45% each) between existing NU and KEEP token holders, who can upgrade their tokens into T via smart contracts.
The remaining 10% of the initial T supply capitalized the Threshold DAO’s on-chain treasury, which is controlled by the Token Holder DAO.
