We are looking for a Director to oversee our Cash Management efforts. The right candidate is expected to have a deep understanding of banking and treasury operations, specifically cash management, wallet and crypto operations, cash forecasting, payments and payment methods, liquidity management and investments. This leader will have key oversight over the full cash management function that includes both platform and corporate treasury units. The right candidate will have the responsibility to develop world class automated cash management processes that deliver metric-driven and insightful reporting to senior treasury management team members and the CFO. You will also be expected to have the ability to efficiently execute tasks, balance competing priorities, show attention to details and be able to support a global cash management function within a fast growing company. As a Director, Cash Management, you will have knowledge and full understanding of treasury systems, cash and process flows, and be able to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies and controls to address them.

You will collaborate with cross functional stakeholders including FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Product, Engineering and Coverage teams as you establish policies and processes, execute funding decisions, automate manual processes and provide payment support to maintain adequate liquidity for each Coinbase subsidiary.

This role reports into the Director of Treasury and provides the candidate a broad view into Coinbase’s entire finance organization. We are looking for a candidate who will be a thought leader on treasury, risk management and control issues as we seek to promote efficiency and scale. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Oversee, develop and lead a team of professionals to execute Coinbase cash management function.
  • Work with the Director of Treasury to hire, develop and mentor skilled Treasury Analysts to maintain top talent in every seat. 
  • Develop, update and monitor Treasury operational policies; establish and manage ICFR compliance and controls for Treasury operations and support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Setup cash and liquidity management operations for cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
  • Implement best practices and automation of key treasury processes; work with key stakeholders in instituting process improvements.
  • Recommend and implement system improvements especially Kyriba as a hub for cash reporting and payments.
  • Oversee efficient global cash management; manage liquidity and funding requirements for all entities.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to forecast cash needs and implement guardrails on each bank account to reduce insufficient cash incidents; reduce idle cash by placing excess cash into approved investment assets.
  • Manage Coinbase capital structure decisions and subsidiary funding requirements.
  • Identify and maintain strong working relationships with key internal business partners and ensure partnership to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Establish processes to track and report on key treasury operating metrics.
  • Develop a global cash management strategy that supports Coinbase internationalization efforts.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline. Advanced degree in a related area preferred.
  • 12 - 15 years of progressive corporate treasury experience, including leading a Cash Management function at a publicly traded company.
  • Ability to interact, influence and build relationships at all levels of seniority and across all functions within an organization.
  • Ability to balance strategic focus with tactical implementation, and efficient execution skills.
  • Exceptional organization, continuous improvement approach, communication, collaboration, prioritization, project management, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Have acute attention to details; strong business judgement and autonomy.
  • Must be a self-starter, take ownership of initiatives, possess strong prioritization and organization skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have highly effective verbal, written, and presentation skills to articulate ideas and plans clearly, accurately, and effectively with all levels of internal and external audiences.
  • Must be a critical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Experience implementing  Treasury systems especially Kyriba.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets and other Microsoft/G-Suite product.

Nice to haves:

  • MBA , CTP or other professional designation like CFA a plus.
  • Experience leading a treasury operations team at a major technology or Fintech company a plus.
  • Experience and general interest in the crypto currency and blockchain space a plus.
