Pay Onchain at Regal Movie Theatres for the Holidays

From December 23 - January 6, movie goers across the United States can enjoy a new way to pay and save at Regal movie theatres. In collaboration with Coinbase Wallet and Flexa, Regal will accept USDC payments on Base, the low-cost Ethereum L2, with a 10% discount. This promotion showcases that onchain payments are increasingly available for every day use.

USDC is a digital equivalent of the U.S. dollar; it combines the stability of the U.S. Dollar with the speed of the internet and costs less than 1 cent per transaction. Stablecoins, like USDC, are growing exponentially; USDC market cap growth in 2024 was 73.47%. Whether you’re catching a holiday blockbuster or grabbing snacks at the concession stand, customers can now use USDC to pay onchain at the big screen.

• Location: In person at over 400 Regal Cinemas across the United States

• Steps to Participate: 

  • Setup your account

    • Download the Coinbase Wallet app

    • Visit regal.flexa.co from the Coinbase Wallet browser

    • If needed, load your wallet with USDC on Base 

      • Tap “Buy” in the assets tab. Enter the amount of USDC you want to buy, select “Base” as the network, and choose a payment method 

      • Tap “Continue to Payment” and complete the transaction

    • Sign up for Flexa by entering and verifying your email address

  • Pay at the theatre

    • When you’re at Regal purchasing your ticket, tap Ready to Pay?, enter the total amount of your payment, and tap Pay Now

    • Review and confirm the transaction, which automatically includes your 10% discount

    • Finally, show the barcode to your Regal cashier or scan it at a self-service kiosk

    • Don’t worry: if your payment isn’t completed, your USDC will be sent back to your wallet
