Doubling down on Coinbase's commitment to our user's safety

At Coinbase, we’re always excited for October when Cybersecurity Awareness Month kicks off. Security is one of our core values, and we strongly believe that each of our products needs to be built with a security-first mindset in order to continue providing a safe and secure platform for our users to participate in the cryptoeconomy.

Coinbase’s security roots go back more than a decade, all the way to the founding of the company. We were one of the first consumer platforms to require mandatory two-factor authentication (2FA) for all our customers. Today, “2FA by default” is an increasingly common practice not just in crypto, but across traditional finance as well – making everyone safer across the entire internet.

Our philosophy of continuous security innovation continues to this day. Recently, we launched our new Security Prompt feature, which provides a safer and easier way for users to sign into their accounts using the Coinbase mobile app. We’ve also expanded our enhanced password protections to help safeguard our customers against the internet-wide risks of third-party data breaches and password-stealing malware. And we’re investing in next-generation behavioral and machine learning models to identify and stop malicious actors before they can cause harm to our customers. Finally, our Coinbase Wallet offers our customers the ability to self-custody all of their crypto and NFTS in one secure place, along with the ability to safely explore the decentralized web while protected by our industry-leading security.

Doubling down on Coinbase's commitment to our users' safety

We’re not just committed to making Coinbase more secure, but also the entire crypto community. A healthy and safe crypto community is critical to growing the cryptoeconomy, which means malicious threats against any of us is a threat to us all. Businesses may compete – but there is no competition for the security of the community. That’s why for the past ten years we worked year-round with independent security researchers, via our HackerOne bug bounty program. At Coinbase we believe that success is when the entire ecosystem works together to keep our community safe in their pursuit of economic freedom.

Another way we are helping to instill trust and security into the community is by providing educational content via Coinbase Learn, where anyone can learn about crypto basics. We also maintain a Security Center with recommendations for protecting yourself and your account, and learning how to identify & be protected from phishing attacks.

Whether you are a seasoned crypto native or new to the world of crypto, our industry-leading security technology, reliable support, and quality educational content are available to keep you informed and safe on your journey.

We welcome you to join us as we continue to grow the cryptoeconomy and work together to increase economic freedom around the world.
